House for the Unelected

Proposal for White House Redux, an ideas competition by Storefront for Art and Architecture. Our intervention tackles the ultimate architectural symbol of political power, the White House, juxtaposing it with an excavated public space of its mirror image. 

House for the Unelected offers a flexible meeting space for political debate, acting as a counterweight for the White House, both symbolically and aesthetically. It also serves as a reminder of the efforts, aspirations, hopes and desires that have historically fed into the US electoral and political system.
